Intellectual Disabilities Drive / Retarded Citizens Drive

For many years we have been standing outside local businesses and churches raising funds to help members of our community with Mental Retardation and other Intellectual Disabilities. We can be seen wearing yellow aprons during this drive. For years those aprons were emblazoned with "Help Retarded Citizens". In an effort to be mindful of the move toward the term "Intellectual Disabilities" in place of "Retarded Citizens" we have obtained new aprons with this new term.

Special Olympics, The Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities have all moved toward this new term.

In spite of a change of aprons, our goals for this drive, and the organizations we support with it, have not changed. As always, all donations are gratefully accepted and go only to help those people in our community with intellectual disabilities.
